Quirks

I love reading blogs. I like knowing what my friends and family are up to and how they're lives are turning out. I also love to blog. It helps me to keep others in the loop of what i've been up to and sometimes it's somewhat therapeutic for me to write down my feelings.

But, while I was reading other people's blogs, some of which I don't really know that well (yes im a creep like that), I got to thinking....how well does everyone really know me?? People are just reading my boring blog and not really even knowing who is writing it. So I came to the conclusion that I would do a post on me...the basics and the quirks. Some things you may find boring, hilarious, awkward, and even gross. But Im not really shy about things like that. Heck, I might even post a picture of me in the middle of dying my eyebrows!...oh wait...already did that ;)  Alot of people would never have others see them so vulnerable, but for me, I feel like it just gives people a good laugh! And that's what I love to do...make people laugh.

So without futher or do...further a deu??...further-a-du..?? man I can never get that right....Here is a list of me, myself, and I.

  • I love my sleep. Many of my friends and family can testify to you that I hate being woken up in the morning.
  • I use to bite my nails, but Maikal has broken me of that habit and I actually feel like I have the hands of a woman now. It's just lovely.
  • I am covered head to toe in freckles.
  • I grow side burns. It's actually pretty impressive. But don't worry, I wax those off before things get too out of hand.
  • I have this weird obsession with striped clothing...Whenever I see something in a store that is striped, I immediately gravitate towards it. There's nothing I can do about it.

Im pretty sure there are some missing.

And don't even get me started on Ben's striped clothes...

  • I love Volleyball, Basketball, and Rugby. But mostly volleyball.
  • My second toe is longer than my first.
  • I can wiggle my ears.
  • I have double jointed thumbs.
  • I use to snort when I laughed.
  • I am addicted to chocolate. No joke. I need help.
  • I love doing photography. Feel free to look me up on facebook, brittany lowry photography.

  • I am 5'7
  • I am 22 years old. Birthday in May. And yes, I will be accepting gifts at any given time. ;)
  • I live in beautiful Laie, Hawaii. For reals. I live in paradise.
  • My favourite shows include: The vampire diaries, survivor, beauty and the beast, drop dead diva, charmed, the bachelor/bachelorette, pretty little liars, and modern family.
  • I have lost 8 pounds. I am on this diet, Fit for Life, and it is doing very well for me. I have also been using an essential oil called, 'slim and sassy', which has helped out alot as well. YAY FOR WEIGHT LOSS!

(Notice more stripes...)
Still 15 pounds away from pre-baby weight.

  • I absolutely hate spiders. Hate them!
  • Ever since my third trimester in pregnancy, I've peed my pants whenever I jump or exercise. Zumba is usually pretty embarrassing for me. But that's why I bye dark coloured bottoms. Yup....it sucks.

Rainy Days

Here in Hawaii it is the rainy season.
And on these days, I like to get crafty!!
On campus there is a place called 'the give and take'.
It is a place where a bunch of stuff has been dropped off, abandoned, or donated.
Everything is free! All you have to do is do a little services before you can take anything.
For example, folding clothes, organizing stuff, hanging things up, etc.

It is the perfect place to go and 'shop'. I especially love to find things that I can fix up
or make into something new.
I like to think I have some sort of creative side to me,
so here on these rainy 'cold' days, I let this side come out to play!

This was an oversized, ugly, sailor dress.
I saw it's potential and made it into something wearable and cute!
I took off the belt, cut off the collar, and took it in to fit me.
Now it's just cute and simple!
So cute! Love it.

I was about to do a stylized photoshoot for my photography and new I needed a head piece!
I found these old ugly dirty flower head bands, some fabric, some pearl things, and some ribbon.
I cut off the flowers from the headbands, cut up the tool fabric
and started rearranging everything.
And THIS is what i came up with!
Cute right!?
Perhaps I may start making more and selling them...

Found these two boring old frames.
Saw this cute idea on pinterest and went for it!
Painted them blue, added some string and voila!
Cutest pin up picture frames ever!

A huge thank you goes out to Cari Enesa for letting me
Steal all of her crafty materials!

Humbled

I realized something today about myself, and it was something I didn't like.
This afternoon my Aunts and my Mom came to Hawaii for a little vacation!
I am so happy they are here! We are going to have a blast.

As I went over to Turtle Bay Resort we decided
to go to the hot tubs while we waited for everyone else to arrive.
It was just my mom, my aunt and her husband there.
We were just chatting and the subject of my living situation came up.
I had mentioned that we are really hoping to get into a two bedroom because it would
be so much easier to have Ben in his own room and not have to move him into the living room every night. My Aunt replied with "oh ya.... it must be like walking on nails! Such a hard life you have". She didn't say this in a mean way at all. My Aunt is one of the most loving, caring, and fun people I know! And I have so much respect for her.

But it was in that very moment that I realized.....
I am such a spoiled brat
I mean I don't think I'm a bad person or anything.
But it was like a got slapped right across the face
with a 'Wet Rubber Glove of Enlightenment!'
It was so clear to me about how my mind has been
twisted by the world and how
I have let all of these comforts and conveniences go unnoticed.
There are MILLIONS of people in the world
who don't even have a roof over their head,
who don't have any food in their fridge,
people who don't have anything at all.
And here I am...complaining about how I have
to move my child's bed from one room to another.
It made me sick inside.

How dare I complain when:
~ I have a wonderful husband who treats me right and who is
receiving such a high education at a wonderful school.
~ I have an adorable little boy who is healthy and shows us so much love everyday.
~ I myself am healthy and am able to play at the beach all day everyday.
~ We receive a substantial amount of money from the government for us to be able to live,
go to school, and take care of our baby.
~We have a fridge and cupboards full of food.
And the list goes on and on and on...

I mean, no one WANTS to be like that.
No one STRIVES to take things for granted.

It just happened.
 I was blind.
But I can see clearly now.

So I have made a goal for myself.
I will try my best not to let the little things, and even some of the big things, go unnoticed.
I will try to not take anything for granted.
And I will try to be more grateful for everything in my life.

And I know it wasn't just my Aunt who put this realization into my head,
it was definitely the Holy Spirit telling me something
that I really needed to know.
And I am beyond happy that I listened.

There was my lesson for the day. I very much needed lesson at that.

So do me a favour everyone.
Just stop right now, take 30 seconds and list off 10 little things in your life that
you have taken for granted. You might just realized how good you really have it.
