BEN

Our Baby Big Ben had his 3rd birthday this week! He's getting so big! I just want him to stay little forever. Can we just escape to Neverland for a while?? So for his birthday, we took Ben swimming! His absolute favourite activity! Seriously he could go for hours. This is why we need to live closure to a beach! Crossed fingers for Dental School in California! ;)
He is a great climber and loves to dance. Like most boys, he loves to play with cars and animals. His favourite thing to do with them is line them up, destroy, then line them up again. haha its so funny. He has the absolute prettiest blue eyes! Seriously how did that happen?? Those recessive genes....
He is getting better at playing with other kids, but he's still a bit rough. We're working on that.
At 3 years old, I expected to have a potty trained kid, but alas, it isn't so.  He also doesn't say many sentences, but he communicates pretty well. Every kid goes at their own pace I guess. Im pretty sure that Aurora will be talking and going to the potty before Ben haha.
But we love this little boy with all our heart and we have learned so much from each other! Each stage of growth is so different and it keeps me on my toes. Im excited to see what he will learn at age 3!

AURORA

Our little princess turned 8 months this week! Say what say what! Not too much has changed since my last update about her. But in case you missed it here are a few stats at her age:

-Crawling
-Pulls herself up on everything
-Can climb up the stairs
-She seems to want real people food now. She's kind of over the mooshy stuff. But she still doesn't have any teeth so Im a little nervous about giving her anything other than little baby food things.
-We are down to one nursing time in a 24 hour period.
-Sleeps through the night
-She hates it when I leave the room. Super inconvenient for me. She also loves to be held. Alot.
-Her manual dexterity skills are amazing. She's able to pick up the small little things with her thumb and pointer finger for a while now. But it still amazes me every time.
-Pro traveller
-Puts EVERYTHING in her mouth.
-And, of course, she is still a Maikal Mini.

They play so well together! I can't wait to watch their relationship grow. It's just the cutest thing. Aurora thinks Ben is the funniest kid ever. Ben cares and loves her so much and is always looking out for her. When she climbs the stairs he is right next to her watching over her. They entertain each other while in the car (heavenly). Rory can get a little aggressive with her hair pulling and clawing of the eye balls, but Ben just moves her hands gently and tells her no. He's like Kid-Parent. So cute!

V-Day Inspired Family Photo's

Friday, February 20, 2015
So last weekend was Valentines Day and we decided to do a little V-day impromptu family session! To me, Valentine's Day isn't just about showing love to your significant other. It's about showing love to the people that mean the most to you. And for me, those people are in these pictures. I love them so much! Even though Ben was being such a little stinker during these pictures...... We still managed to get a few cute ones in there. Thanks Shenoa for taking these pics for us!

Whenever I see an opportunity for Family pictures, I take it! Pictures are worth more to me than any material gift so that's what we did this year. We are so lucky to have had such amazing weather this year so we weren't completely freezing our butts off!

I will be posting about our V-day date in the next post so stay tuned!

7 Months - Belated

::Late Post::

So last month Aurora Baby hit 7 months!! She is growing into such an amazing little human. Her new favourite thing is squacking. It's this sound she makes that is both loud and adorable. She is a fast little crawler and pulls herself up on anything and everything. She is slowly building up the courage to let go of whatever she's holding onto and reach for another object that is a little far away. We are working on her walking because I want her to hold the record of the Lowry Grandkids of Earliest Walker!! Maikal was walking at 8 months and she MIGHT be able to do it in her eighth month. Here are some more Stats:

  • Eats Solids
  • She's been having trouble with her sleeping lately but we are working on a better schedule for her. She still sleeps through the night most of the time.
  • Still nursing
  • No Teeth
  • Takes a bottle no problem
  • Best traveller ever
  • JUST started playing Strange. Even with her favourite uncles and Aunts she will cry. I hate it.
  • She puts EVERYTHING into her mouth. I am constantly having to watch her and clean up so she doesn't choke.
  • 3-6 months clothing
  • Still looks just like her daddy. Which I LOVE! She is so Lowry it's ridiculous.
  • Loves playing with her tongue
  • I feel like her hair will never grow. And it sucks. I just want to put her in little pig tails!

A Walk in the Park

Friday, February 6, 2015
I know it's been a while since posting an outfit post but things have been distracting lately, obviously. One thing that makes me happy is getting dressed up and playing around with different things in my closet. And shopping of course! When I get stressed out, I shop. When I was in school and had just finished a really hard exam I would head straight to the mall! haha. Shopping is very therapeutic for me, as Im sure it is for alot of people. And lucky for us a lovely Chinook came into town so the weather was so warm!!

You know that one item you've always had on your wish list but can NEVER find it!?? Well that was me and this skirt! I don't know if I just had bad luck when I went out shopping or maybe I was just too cheap to look in the more expensive stores, but I've finally found it! And it was at Ardenes of ALL places. One of my biggest pet peaves when searching for a skirt like this is finding a gorgeous drop dead flowy maxi skirt and finding out they have a super mini, super thin skirt/slip underneath because the outer fabric is too sheer. Like this image below:

I wouldn't mind it if it was a bit longer but it seriously barely covers my big butt most of the time. And Im too conscious of my legs to buy something like that. I need the under fabric to go at least to my knees or preferably to the length of the outer fabric of the skirt! SO when I saw this skirt I didn't hesitate for a second to buy! Especially since it was ON SALE!

Also, I've discovered that I now love hats! Never in my life did I think I would love the look of a hat on me. Usually most hats don't even fit on my head because of the amount and volume of my hair. But I saw this one, tried it on a fell in loveeee! The quality is amazing and it fits like a glove. I think a good hat just finishes off an outfit in all the right ways!

Sunshine and Sorrow

Monday, February 2, 2015
"May we become spiritually refined as we go through sunshine and sorrows" -President Monson

This past sunday we were reminded of Gods Light through our trials. It was the perfect lesson with what has been going on with out families lately. The passing of our sister Teina Beth has been one of the hardest things we've ever had to go through, especially for my husband. No one should ever have to lose someone they love. You never think it's going to happen to you, and when it does, it hits you like a brick wall and leaves you in pieces.

While Teina was in the ICU, there was an enormous amount of support going her way. People from all over the world were praying for her. It was unbelievable. I tear up just thinking about how much love and support that Teina the Lowry family has. The number of people that came to her funeral was outstanding. The feeling in that room that day was unforgettable. But there is one staple in our life that has shown us more love, more hope, more support, and more happiness than we ever could have imagined. And that is the Gospel that we live.

"And since man had fallen he could not merit anything of himself; but the sufferings and death of Christ atone for their sins, through faith and repentance, and so forth; and that he breaketh the bands of death, that the grave shall have no victory, and that the sting of death should be swallowed up in the hopes of glory; and Aaron did expound all these things unto the king."

Alma 22:14

The Grave has no Victory. I love that. There is no Sting of Death. A friend sent this to me and anytime Im feeling down or see my husband struggling, I will go back to this and become immediately reassured that we WILL see her again. She is in Heaven having the best time of her life. She is looking over us, watching us grow and learn knew things. Watching over her family and helping everyone get through this. We have felt her spirit comfort us and we know she is Ok.

There will be good days and bad days. But everyday that goes by, is another day closer to seeing the people we've lost. This life is not the end. I know it. I believe it. We are excited to join her one day, but until then, we will live with strength.

May Angels Lead you In
